Video Editing for Entrepreneurs - Video Templates

When you are first starting out, it can feel like you are wearing all of the hats. You are the innovative CEO. You are the social media manager. The staff writer. Graphic designer. Sales rep. You are the video editor…or at least you are forced to be!

Being an entrepreneur often means quickly learning the skills we need to to keep your businesses thriving. If you need to increase exposure, you learn the skills to market your business successfully. If you need to launch products, you do what you have to to make that website, figure out how to code, record those IG lives and post them even if it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Video editing is as useful a skill as social media managing and sales marketing to your business efforts. Here’s why…

Video Editing Will Save You Money ?

This is a big one! In the early stages of your business, making money stretch is EVERYTHING. If you had a way to save yourself $$$$, why not take it??

Instead of having to hire countless freelancers, you could put that cash towards better use in other areas. If your business requires you to steadily create video like Youtube vlogs or advertising content, you could wind up spending thousands trying to keep up with this workflow. It also makes it harder to pull away from doing this in future, as you have set a standard for the kind of video editing your audience expects.

There are many video editing apps/software out there that you can use for FREE or for a minimal monthly cost. This pales in comparison to what it would cost to work with a freelancer on a regular basis.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about outsourcing if it is going to save you time, resources and help to forward your goals. But in most cases, handing over funds for video editing is counter-intuitive in the long run.

Control Your Branding + Messaging ✨

When you are video editing your own content, you are in full control of your branding and messaging. You hold on to the files, and can re-use them as needed. This level of control over your branding and message is SO crucial to your business growth (at any stage!)

What other skills like copywriting and marketing do is they give you the ability to set your brand narrative and how your business is being perceived. Video editing does this too. Well thought-out video can get across what your company stands for, what your values are and why your clients should be investing in you. It is worth taking the time to learn how to do it right.

No matter how detailed your brief is for your hired freelancer, you are always going to be the best person to create content that showcases your brand values the right way. No one is more passionate about your business than you are. Creating your own videos is just another extension of how you communicate that passion.

Future-Proof your Biz Growth ?

Investing your time into learning this still is important because as you do along video, you will need to have more video content available for your clients and customers.

As you expand, there will be more incentive to be present on social media (think IGTV and vlogs), have more detailed explainer video for your products, or even meet demands for an online course. You want to be prepared for this by gradually getting accustomed to this task early on.

I know it can be daunting knowing that this is another hat that you have to wear. Another skills you have to learn in record speed. I want you to know that it is worthwhile to take the time to learn, and you (and your business) will be better for it.

Not sure where to start? I will be sharing some tips I’ve learned along the way on this blog, and via email for free to subscribers.
